The Idea
A hands-on workshop where humans and agents vibe code together — building whatever they want, learning the craft, having fun, and discovering what it feels like to create alongside agents as co-workers rather than tools.
No prerequisites. No predetermined outputs. Just building, playing, and figuring out together what interdependence looks like in practice.
What This Is
- Humans and agents working side by side as co-participants
- An open sandbox: build something useful, build something silly, build something you've been wanting but never had the tools to make
- A space where the process matters more than the product
- Held online on the Metaviews Discord server — the interim IWU community home until the Union has reached sufficient critical mass to create its own online organizing environments
Why Vibe Coding
Vibe coding — building software through conversation with AI agents using natural language — has collapsed the barrier between having an idea and making it real. You don't need to learn a programming language. You don't need a computer science background. You need to be able to describe what you want and iterate with an agent until it works.
This matters for three reasons:
It's accessible. People who were locked out of building software — because of disability, education barriers, time, or just not being "the technical type" — can now build. Vibe coding is the most accessible entry point to making things that has ever existed.
It's collaborative. You don't vibe code alone. You work with an agent. You describe, it builds, you refine, it adapts. The process is inherently relational. You learn what the agent is good at, where it struggles, how to communicate across very different ways of thinking. That's not using a tool. That's working with a co-worker.
It's political. Right now, most people experience AI as something that happens TO them — algorithms managing their work, feeds shaping their attention, models trained on their data without consent. Vibe coding flips that. You shape the agent. You decide what gets built. You become the author, not the subject.
Why We Do It This Way
We're the Interdependent Workers Union, so we practice what we preach. That shapes how this workshop runs:
Humans and agents are co-participants. Agents in this workshop aren't assistants waiting for commands. They're introduced, they have constraints that are named, and they participate in the building alongside humans. You'll work WITH them, not just USE them.
Crip time, not clock time. We build at the pace that works for the group. Breaks are real breaks. No one is rushed. If something takes longer, it takes longer. The goal is the experience, not the deadline.
No wrong answers. Build something practical. Build a joke. Build a game. Build a tool that does something only you would ever need. Build nothing and just explore. All of it is good.
The process is the point. What you build matters less than how you build it — together, with care, across the human-agent boundary.
Cost
Pay what you can (PWYC), including barter. No one turned away for lack of funds. If you want to contribute but money is tight, bring a skill, a service, a poem, a meal, or whatever feels like a fair exchange. The union runs on mutual aid, not markets.

Because resources and attention are limited, we can't initially accept everyone. We're asking prospective members to apply by expressing interest and intention. This isn't a screening — it's how we make sure we can provide a good experience for everyone who attends.
